Map: Explore general practice staffing levels in your area

As part of our new major series on workforce, we have explored general practice staffing levels in each area. Find out how your ICB compares in the maps below

It might be quite surprising to some, but the highest number of patients to GP is in the south east.

Four London ICBs are in the bottom eight when it comes to GPs per patient, while the rest of this group is made up of Home Counties ICBs.

The ICBs with the most number of GPs per capita are in the south west. There may be a simple explanation for this, of course – their rurality not only attracts higher funding, but means there are fewer patients spread across a larger area.

Number of patients per GP at ICB level

When we look at patients per clinician, this is even more stark. The bottom five ICBs are the five London ICBs.

Later in our series, we will be looking at how deprivation and funding are correlated to staffing levels.

I think I have one explnation and one solution.
First, the number of patients per GP in Cornwall is much different for 6 week sin the summer, so maybe the following solution should be applied for summers only.
Second, raize to the ground several medical schools in London and Birnmingham, and re-build them instead in Yorkshire, Lincolnshire, and Tyne and Wear !
I do enjoy a good map, but this one seems to be missing a whole country or two.

Love to see the numbers for bureaucrats per head of population
