Learning objectives

This module will cover important issues in managing diabetes in primary care:

Using HbA1c as a diagnostic test for diabetes
Managing complications, such as microalbuminuria, in diabetes
Identifying patients who are at high risk of developing diabetes
Starting treatment with insulin in patients with diabetes
Advising patients on how often to self-test blood glucose

This module was first published on 26^th May 2010 and was up to date with all key guidelines and evidence at that point. It will be reviewed as part of our routine update cycle by 26^th May 2012 but will be updated sooner to reflect any key guideline changes.
