This module uses four case histories to update GPs on the management of childhood mental health including:
- The symptoms and signs that are suggestive of a child sniffing glue
- The short- and long-term dangers associated with glue sniffing
- Clinical and ethical issues posed by the request that an adolescent be ‘tested for drugs’
- The prevalence of anxiety-based disorders in adolescent children
- CBT for childhood and adolescent anxiety or depression
- The prevalence of depression
- How you can encourage engagement of the child with medical services
- The key features to look for in a child presenting with possible autism
