GPs need to notify the local health protection team of suspected cases

- GPs have a statutory duty to notify their local council or local health protection team (HPT) of suspected cases of certain infectious diseases
- On 5 March Covid 19 was added to the list of notifiable diseases
- Complete a notification form immediately on diagnosis of a suspected case of Covid-19
- Don’t wait for laboratory confirmation before notification
- Send the form to the proper officer within 3 days, or notify them verbally within 24 hours
