Save the NHS for £8 billion, NHS to pay for weight loss and a new dementia breakthrough

The Times splashes on the NHS ‘£8 billion black hole’ this morning, while The Guardian says it will cost ‘£8 billion to save the NHS’, as both pick up on NHS England’s five-year plan for improving the health service.
The Government plans to ‘respond substantively to the [plan] in due course’, sources close to health secretary Jeremy Hunt told the Guardian.
The Mirror also picks up the news but focuses on a different part of the plan, that NHS England intentivise staff to lose weight in a ‘pounds for lbs’ strategy.
Meanwhile, over on the Daily Express, dementia experts have made a ‘breakthrough’ concluding that keeping the brain active and eating a healthy diet are the best ways to fight the disease. The tagline is to ‘use it or lose it’.
