Former GPC chair among speakers at Pulse LIVE in Leeds next month

Pulse LIVE will return to Leeds next month, with a keynote speech by a former BMA GP committee chair, as well as expert-led presentations and networking.

The event, worth four CPD hours, will take place on 2 April at the Queens Hotel near Leeds train station.

Dr Chaand Nagpaul, a GP in North London who served as GPC chair and as chair of the union’s council, will deliver the closing keynote speech on burnout in general practice, discussing a call for policy change and local action.

NHS England’s national director for prescribing Dr Tony Avery, a GP and professor of Primary Health Care at the University of Nottingham, will also speak at the conference in a session on tackling overprescribing to improve patient care.

There will be a number of clinical topics covered at the event, including: allergy diagnosis, vaccination in adults, medically unexplained persistent physical symptoms, COPD, AI in primary care, retinal red flags, and contraceptive challenges during perimenopause.

Pulse editor Sofia Lind said: ‘It’s great to see Pulse LIVE returning to Leeds this year with an impressive line-up of speakers and experts, and a keynote speech from Dr Nagpaul on GP burnout, which is such a crucial issue for the profession.’

Tickets are free for all practising, GMC-registered GPs and GP trainees. For more information and to sign up for the event, visit the event’s website.

Earlier this week, primary care minister Stephen Kinnock spoke at Pulse LIVE in London, addressing GP delegates on general practice’s central role in the future of the NHS, and also answered questions from the audience.
