Bupa launches 24/7 GP hotline

Private healthcare provider Bupa has launched a 24/7 telephone GP helpline providing unlimited consultations for members.

The move  - in response to demand - is an upgrade of Bupa´s current nurse-only helpline. Members calling the nurse helpline who require further advice are called back by a GP within an hour.

A Bupa spokesperson said the helpline would be staffed by a small team of GPs.

Sue Moore, marketing and customer development director at Bupa said: ‘Many of our members want to be able to speak to a GP at any time of the day or night that suits them, without having to wait for an appointment.'

‘Many of them want to be free to discuss their health concerns or questions for as long as they need, without the feeling of being rushed.'
