Technology outage leaves GPs without email

All GP practices in the NHS Borders region have been left without access to emails following a hardware failure at the weekend.

A spokesperson said it was unclear how long it would take to restore the email system, nor how many GP practices are affected.

In a statement issued this morning on its social media channels, NHS Borders health board said: ‘Due to a hardware failure that took place over the weekend we are currently unable to send or receive emails.

‘This situation affects all NHS Borders email accounts including those at GP surgeries and health centres.

‘We are working hard to restore email. In the meantime please make contact using the phone.’

A further update is expected this afternoon.
