There are more than twice as many male GP clinical directors than female running PCNs across England, data shows.
Pulse PCN analysis of PCN workforce data has revealed that there are 198 FTE men filling the roles (66.9%) compared to 98 women (33.1%) as of October 2023.
This is despite the fact that nearly 19,800 of the 37,125 FTE GPs are female (53.3%), while 17,300 are men (46.7%).
Similarly, there are more male GP partners (9,324) than female GP partners (6,822).
The data visualisation does not include the 14 clinical directors who are nurses (100% female), the 14 who are direct patient care staff (50% female), nor the 38 who are non-clinical (68.4% female).
