Dr Johnny Marshall, chair of the NAPC since 2008, has recently emerged as one of the country's strongest voices in favour of the Government's NHS reforms.
New entry
A GP in Wendover, Buckinghamshire, he now leads an increasingly confident organisation, going head to head with the NHS Alliance in persuading consortia to sign up, and calling for those organisations to be given as much freedom as possible by the new NHS Commissioning Board.
This stance has brought critics as well as admirers though, with some grassroots GPs alarmed at his calls for consortia to root out poor performers.
