Down 19 places

She may have moved down the list since last year, but Professor Howe still earns her place in the Top 50.

Currently RCGP vice-chair, she will become the first female president of the World Organization of Family Doctors in 2016.

Yet where her skills are perhaps most needed is heading the RCGP workforce committee, trying to secure the 10,000 additional GPs the college has said are required by 2022. She says it will mean money coming out of other specialties which are over-recruiting.

With overworked GPs struggling like never before, lets hope she can achieve the goal.
